Up date on the Ark

September 8, 2005

Dear friends, There has been a lot happening here on the
Ark since the last newsletter. We have been giving talks in
the local school and tourist parks. Also we have been able
to leave fund raising tins in a few places. So we are
getting some fund together. This has made it possible to
order and sell Tee shirts. they are$ 25.00 Australian
dollars. If anyone is interested please pay it to the web
site and send me a email with name and address and I will
send it to you.Ww need all the help we can get.The colors
are brown, burgandy, bone, navy blue ,black olive. They have
our logo on them. All the new little ones are doing great.
Their are 8 on bottles so at feed time it is crazy. One is
named Caps as she was abused by some children and we had to
amputate her right arm.We dont know yet if she will be one
for release as she is still only 6mths old.She does have
some problems but is able to feed herself alright. She is
truely amazing as she still trust us humans after all she
has been through.Debbie Do is still the apple of my eye and
spend all day out of the cage.Want belong now and it will
be time for her first night in th wild.I am so worried
about her but I must let her go!I just keep remembering
Gaby and the pain start all over again.I know I shall cry
for years.Applied to the N.T.Government for a small grant 3
mths ago.Well people they gave it to us!Money hasnt came
through yet but soon I hope. It was for the constrution of
a huge Kangaroo enclosure and a program to trap cane toads
on our flood plains. They are killing our native animals and
we need to monitor their impact. All grant moneies are
aduited at the end of the year so the record keeping is a
real pain but necessary .It will take many months to
complete. The animal will love us for it.Will plan a page on
the web site after it is finished. We have made some
information sheets that are given out to the tourist. They
explain how to rescue a joey if you have had a collision
with the mother in your car.Our territory roads are
dangerous for the native animals not to mention the injury
to people. And most people dont know what to do after such
an encounter. They have been welcomed.Well folks thats all
from us on Ninas Ark Till next time.stay safe and protect
our wildlife.
