G'day from Nina's ARK.

April 18, 2005

Firstly I would like to say how sorry I am that March's
Newsletter did not get sent. This was due to Computer
failure, which lasted some weeks, but order has now been
restored.

I am sure most of you read the papers about the slaughter
of our little Gaby the Walliby princess and her friends.
This happened at Julienne's Kangeroo enclosure in Howard
Springs. While the deed is done, some of us will live with
this pain for a life time. Gaby Do's joey Debbie Do's, is
now one of our own special little kids and much loved by us
at the Ark. She is doing great and is as courageous as her
mother was.

Gismo the Antilopine has grown enormously in the past few
months, but she still acts like a big baby and refuses to
eat anything but milk.

Pooket the one that was removed from her mother's pouch is
a big girl but I am sorry to report that she has lost most
of her sight. Cause unkown at present.

Little Rocky has reached 31cm and has become a little
terror. I had to remove him from the house to the big
enclosure where he can tear around and not destroy anything
- ready for release back into the National Park soon. We
shall miss him so much but he is destined for great things.

The dry season has finally arrived and the countryside is
starting to dry up. With the impending dry weather, the
colony is starting to increase.

The Website has started to show promise, with it finally
being able to be accessed around the world. In fact, we
have a woman from England, that is doing a walk for us with
funds raised going to the ARK. So it looks like we may be
starting to get some exposure. All's looking up. So wish
us luck in the coming months.

Plan for a new, larger Kangeroo enclosure is in the
pipelines, Wwoofers are beginning to ring each day -
wanting to come stay and work with the animals. Looks like
it will be a bigger year this year from the visitors.
Good, as they are much needed! Mystique still comes each
day and is starting to show an interest in the female sex.
A computer programmer has been working on the website
trying to work out some old problems, compliments of
Julienne, who never ceases to amaze me with her kindness
and dedication. What a great world it would be if more
people had a heart like her. We are forever greatful.
Thank you my friend.

Many female Roo's are carrying joey's, so it's a happy time
on the ARK. Bundy, Rum, Coke, Tillie and Beverly have all
now been released around the homestead. They have been
living free day and night for about 2 weeks. We count
heads each morning and so far they are surviving. With the
dawn of each new day, and they show up at feeding time, so
do their chances of survival increase. As I shall be going
away for a few weeks, I have added some pink spray to them
for recongnition, so they can continue to be counted.
Well, that's it from our little paradise in the Bush.
Thanks to all you animal lovers around this great earth.

Take Care,

From Nina's ARK
