Newest arrival on the Ark
November 18, 2004
We have a new arrival a very young Antilopine Wallaroo. We at the Ark refer to all the young as the kids. When they come in to our care we donot give them a name until they have been a resident for two weeks. As it take that long to see if they are going to survive. After this time we all breath a sigh of relieve. But until then we refer to them as noname. And little noname is doing okay for her fourth day.Today she started to take the bottle with alittle more gusto. We estimate she is about 3 to 4 months old.She doesn't have any hair and is starting to get the grey colouring that comes before the fine bum fluff. She has large bone structure and is going to be one big girl.Allthe colony was a little distress the last few days as we have been getting some major wind storms. But the good news is their havent been any dogs hanging around. The group is growing fast and there are 6 little joeys following their moms around. So this has been a productive year for them. All the females have new babys in the pouch some too small to stick their heads out yet.Web site has not had any activety, but I am told it takes 3 months so we will see how we do for one year.Your boys are still hanging around the house in the day time and go of with the others at night. They seem to have made their selves at home and we love them too.Matilda has a new joey in the pouch again.I wonder if it will be another female if so that makes 3.she is such a good mother.Pop is living with the colony going away each night but home in the day.He is hugh now and he is only 16 months old.Sorry I have to cut this one short as the roos are calling for their bottles their are 6 of them,Thank you both for all your support and kindness.Nina on the Ark
